USA World Champion team member Sensei Michelle Del Giorno
started training in Martial Arts in 1981. She was Sensei Nick and
Sensei Stacey's first martial arts teacher. She has over 29 years of
experience in teaching and training in the Martial Arts. Sensei Michelle
continues to train with many major Martial Arts personalities.
Sensei Michelle has been training under her mentor, Shihan Bob Mauro of
the US Karate Academy since 1993. Shihan Mauro was the 2007 Fight Trainer of
the Year. He has developed several World Champion Kickboxers and continues
to be on the cutting-edge of training techniques. Shihan Mauro is a senior
student of World Famous Joe Lewis. Sensei Michelle has earned her 4th degree
Black Belt from Shihan Mauro who teaches the Joe Lewis American Karate
Systems. She is currently training and teaching at the US Karate Academy in
Huntington, New York.
In 1990 Sensei Michelle was nominated in the prestigious Professional Karate
League Hall of Fame as Rookie of the Year.
During the 1990’s Sensei Michelle continued to compete in National Karate
Tournaments winning every major invitational, year after year in sparring,
kata and weapons forms.
In 1993 Sensei Michelle was awarded the North American Sport Karate
Association’s (NASKA) Overall Champion.
After securing a position on the World Athletic Karate Organizations
United States Team, Sensei Michelle won the Silver Medal in Sport Karate
Point Fighting and Weapons Forms.
As a member of the 1994 United States Team at the World Karate-do
Federation Pan American Championships, Sensei Michelle won the Gold Medal in
Women’s Traditional Semi-Contact Team Sparring.
Sensei Michelle was a premier instructor at the prestigious Karate College
Summer Camp at Radford University in Raonoke, Virginia. At the college she
taught the intricacies of sparring, self-defense and weapons training for
tournament competition. Sensei Michelle has performed in demonstrations for
the Karate Helps Kick Diabetes Foundation in Washington, D. C.
Sensei Michelle takes a scientific approach to teaching the Martial Arts
which consists of physical fitness, self-defense and personal enjoyment. As
the head Martial Arts instructor at The Ross School in East Hampton, New
York, Sensei Michelle has been teaching young adults and children the art of
self-defense, personal safety and self-awareness. In addition, Sensei
Michelle has been teaching Karate to school aged children with special
needs. Her students have been able to improve in their physical abilities
and self-discipline. These students have experienced significant
improvements to their grade point average in school due to their increased
level of concentration.
Sensei Michelle’s proudest accomplishment by far is being mom to three
teenaged boys. Together, they participate with the Department of Social
Services and serve their community as a Suffolk County registered foster
home. In addition to teaching Martial Arts, Sensei Michelle is a certified
personal trainer. She is a premier trainer in the Hamptons, Long Island
working with local gyms and in private home training sessions. Sensei
Michelle wishes to continue to share her World Champion attitude and
lifetime experiences with all that are willing to learn.

Epic Martial Arts. She will be heading up the tournament team with
Sensei Stacey, Sensei Nick and Sensei Zack to take our already awesome Epic
